1. WILSHIRE BUS LANE PROJECT UPDATE
The Wilshire BRT Construction Project is expected to begin in September 2014 on Wilshire Boulevard between Bonsall and Federal Avenues. Construction will take approximately 7 months to complete the full project and will be divided into three phases:
- Phase 1 – North side of Wilshire Boulevard between Bonsall Avenue to Federal Avenue (approximately 2 1/2 months)
- Phase 2 – South side of Wilshire Boulevard between Bonsall Avenue to Federal Avenue (approximately 2 1/2 months)
- Phase 3 – Center median work (approximately 2 months)
The community will be notified with more details prior to construction via email. For those located immediately adjacent to a construction area, a door to door notice will be distributed.
Thank You,
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works

3. KNOW YOUR COMMUNITY POLICE STATION
All LAPD divisional community police stations are open 24 hours/7days a week. We never close. Not for holidays nor any other reason. Please file that away in the back of your head as a source of safety and security during certain transactions or other circumstances that may come up.
Most of us already know we should drive to a well-lit location or to a police station if you believe you’re being followed in your vehicle, etc., but many don’t know that we also have a 24-hour ATMavailable in the lobby. We also have public restrooms. And if you’re needing a safe drop off spot for a date that isn’t going quite as well as you hoped, or you’re in a taxi/Uber ride that feels sketchy and wrong, feel free to utilize the police station as a drop off/pick up spot. Our police station is also an ideal spot to meet for Craigslist transactions and/or other types of situations where you’re meeting a stranger, especially for the first time.
Do you know the address of our LAPD West LA Station? –or even just the cross streets? Learn it yourself, teach your children, tell your friends, our address is:
1663 Butler Avenue
Los Angeles, Ca. 90025
Or simply,
Butler Avenue, one block south of Santa Monica Blvd

HANDYMAN SEEKS WORK AND HOUSING
Our handyman, Byron Pardo, is looking for work and a place to stay. He has worked in construction, and is truly quite capable. For us he has done many kinds of jobs, including repaving our cement driveway, power washing the brick patio, and more recently repairing a faulty BBQ gas line, laying bricks, polishing hardwood floors, and painting the interior. He can repair almost anything. He is also good in the garden and can clean. He is honest and trustworthy. We have known him many years. His telephone number is 818-917-6145. My telephone number is 310-283-7613.
