1.  DWP TRUNK LINE PROJECT – PHASE 2 
Regarding the Sunset/Hilgard trunk line project, the DWP will transition next Tues., July 21 from Phase 1 to Phase 2.
The lane closures and turn restrictions at the intersection of Sunset and Hilgard will end at that time, but there will be lane closures on Hilgard for the duration of the second and third phases.
2.  LAPD CRIME REPORT

Burglary/Theft from Motor Vehicle:
500 block of Beverly Glen (RD 0806): On 07/01/15 between 5:00pm and 1:30am, victim parked vehicle in the driveway. Unknown suspect(s) removed spare wheel cover from Mazda vehicle.
3.  MOVIE PREMIERE – STREET CLOSURES ON  JULY 22
Awesomeness TV will be holding the premiere of “Awesomeness TV Smosh” at the Regency Village Theater, located at 961 Broxton Avenue, at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, July 22, 2015.
Portions of Broxton Ave. and Weyburn Ave., including street, curb lane and sidewalks will be closed to pedestrian and street traffic on the day of the event.

4.  SPECIAL OLYMPICS WORLD GAMES 
Special Olympics World Games Torch Run – July 23 The official torch of the Special Olympics World Games will be making its way to Westwood Village on Thursday, July 23rd at 2:00pm, two days before the World Game Opening Ceremony at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Runners and volunteers will run with the torch down Westwood Blvd and make their way to the Westwood Village Farmers’ Market for a brief ceremony.
Special Olympics World Games Opening Ceremony – July 25 For a limited time, Opening Ceremony tickets are being offered at a discount.  For more information and to purchase tickets: www.LA2015.org
5.  UPCOMING COMMUNITY EVENTS 
Westwood Village Cinema Under the Stars – “Independence Day”.  Monday, July 20th, 8 pm.  Screenings will take place in the surface parking lot located at 1031 Broxton Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90024, behind Barney’s Beanery.  Moviegoers are invited to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the screening in this unique outdoor setting. Attendance is FREE and open to the public — moviegoers are encouraged to show up early to stake an out a prime spot for the show. The Regency Fox Village and Bruin Theatres will be on-site selling affordable popcorn, and snacks.

Events at Westwood Library -For a complete list of events, please click here.  Amongst the upcoming events:  July 25 (from 1 -3p.m.,) Master Gardener Emi Carvell presents a hands-on demo “Ten Beginning Steps for Every Organic Home Garden” Soil, Soil and Soil and how to improve it. Water, Water and Water but MUCH less to get high yield/production. Plus sowing seeds by Eco-Pot. This is a family friendly event where ALL ages are encouraged to attend. Please bring a senior who might not get out often if you can! A healthy, veggie snack will be provided.

Bring dollars: the picnic will feature a watermelon stand to raise funds for Special Olympics of Southern California (SOSC).
We welcome the SOSC World Game athletes to lead our parade!
