Los
Angeles Community Emergency Preparedness Program
The City of Los Angeles is
extremely concerned that its residential communities are totally
unprepared for a disaster. It may be 2-3 weeks before any community
receives emergency responder assistance. Therefore, Holmby-Westwood
Property Owners’ Association (HWPOA) is now gearing up to
implement the city-wide recommended emergency preparedness program.
Please volunteer to help our community
accomplish the city’s plan as soon as possible. The plan includes:
- Creating our own community wide Emergency Preparedness Plan
- Organizing community wide communication between residents, HWPOA, police, our local fire department, the Red Cross, and city offices before, during and after a disaster
- Organizing a health professional team and triage location to treat injuries. (If you have professional health experience, please get involved to help)
- Organizing a comprehensive plan for a gathering place where residents can receive help following a disaster
- Organizing a comprehensive plan for shelters for those residents who cannot return to their homes following a disaster
Volunteer committees
are now being established for each of the above areas. Please contact
Susan Reuben, Vice President, Holmby-Westwood Property Owners’
Association to get involved. E-mail: susanjreuben@yahoo.com
or by phone: 310-271-6700.
**Participation
is open to members and non-members of HWPOA .**
