#1.  LOUD MUSIC COMPLAINTS

A  number of residents living on Strathmore and north thereof between Hilgard and Beverly Glen reported very loud music noise into the late night of Monday July 15.

One resident asked her security service to check the neighborhood and identify the location.  Unfortunately the security company had no success.

If you have knowledge of where the music was coming from please email the information to  hwpoa@aol.com so that we can contact that resident.  Such late night music that disturbs such a large geographic area is illegal and that resident needs to be made aware of the City code.

# 2  ANOTHER KIND OF NOISE

A resident asked that we remind residents that contractors may not work on Sundays and holidays pursuant to the LA Municipal Code.   Start times are 7:00 AM,  M-F, except on Saturday which is 8:00 AM.

# 3.  WESTWOOD CREST

Thanks to the Westwood HOA (south of Wilshire) for sharing this info:

The Majestic Crest Theater on Westwood Blvd. just south of Wilshire  is a city historic monument.  It is now open and showing ballet and opera.  Please click on the link below to review upcoming events for later in July and August. Check out the schedule on the following link.

# 4.  SARAH SAYS GOODBYE
HWPOA is going to miss Sarah, Councilmember Koretz 's Westwood staff person.   We want to thank her for her  always prompt attention and help with the various issues HWPOA brought to the attention of the  Council office for action.  Sarah wrote:

As some have already heard, my last day with Council District 5 will be this Friday, July 19th. Although I will miss daily involvement with the City on both legislative and field matters, I am looking forward to my next big move: I will be leaving for New York to attend NYU for my Masters in Public Administration.
A new hire will be introduced next week.

Regards,  Sarah Mallory
# 5.    AND TOM TOO.

All good things, like life,  come to an end........and so it is time to say goodbye to Holmby Westwood POA after 15 years of interesting and enjoyable  employment as office administrator.  It's time for me to enjoy a "second retirement."

I will be training my office replacement  Dana Glenn  during the coming week
Dana will officially take over the office later in July.  The HWPOA phone number and contact address information will not change.

Welcome Dana!!!!

As you can see from the picture  taken at the 4th of July event,  I am ready to "take off" for new adventures with help from those HWPOA balloons.

Best wishes to all you great Holmby Westwood folks.  I'll be close by if I'm not traveling, to help HWPOA and Dana as needed.

Regards,
Tom Paterson

# 6 .  HWPOA COMMUNICATION AND AD POLICY.

Please direct all comments, questions or issues  regarding the HOLMBY NEWS to hwpoa@aol.com and not to the holmbywestwood's Yahoo address.
Residents have complained about too many HWPOA emails during the week so I  as Moderator, try to limit HWPOA messages during the week, ads in particular,  to posting in the weekly NEWS.  Emergency type situations such as coyote sightings, lost and found pets, traffic alerts and similar emergency type situations will continue to be published during the week as received.

This policy will be published each week preceding the Resident Ads section of the HOLMBY NEWS as a reminder of the policy, how to place the ads. and why the policy was established.  There is always  an exception considered  if needed for an emergency type ad situation.

When placing an ad  please send to hwpoa@aol.com for the HOLMBY NEWS Moderator to review.  The receipt of the ad will be confirmed.  Responses to ads should be directed to the ad placer, not to HWPOA.  Do not respond to the  holmbywestwood Yahoo email address.   Ads will be run in the following weekend NEWS of the week the ad is received if the ad is received after release of the NEWS via our Yahoo group.

Thank you.
Tom the NEWS moderator/editor.
