#2.  MORE INFO ON PARKING  ENFORCEMENT

Last edition we wrote about  a lack of parking violation enforcement  in connection with vehicles parked on Beverly Glen.   This past week we directed some questions to the Council office regarding City enforcement.

First the questions, then the response from LA City DOT:
Questions:
When City  Parking Enforcement checks  and cites vehicles for parkin in a location  past 72 hours, and  similar violations,  such as the various parking issues on Beverly Glen, does that City department track the  license plate to confirm if prior parking violations have been paid?   If they do that, what happens: how is the offender notified about unpaid  tickets?  If DOT doesn't do that, why don't they, given recent press about  the various government police agencies sharing data.  Is that license plate  ownership information available to the public?

Here's Parking Enforcement's response to the questions:
All citation information is tracked in a database.  If a vehicle has 5
or more unpaid and delinquent citations, the vehicle is flagged as a
"scofflaw."  If the vehicle is cited again or if an officer does a
search of the vehicle plate, the vehicle is immediately impounded and
held until the outstanding balance has been paid.  Often times,
Parking Violations Bureau will allow a citizne to make payments on an
outstanding balance.

License information is not available to the public and all staff must
sign a Department of Justice confidentiality agreement to gain access
to any DMV information.

#3.  SUPPLEMENTAL INFO ON 405 FREEWAY CLOSURES
Last week's report on pending 405 Wilshire and Sunset closures was determined to be incomplete and confusing.  Further information was provided below by Metro.

However, they left out information on the alternative routes/ramps  to be used and we've asked for more information. Upon receipt of that information it will be posted in the   NEWS.
Metro responded:
The northbound I-405 on-ramp from eastbound Wilshire Bl is scheduled to be closed for 90 days beginning August 22. The northbound off-ramp to Sunset Bl is scheduled to be closed for 120 days beginning August 3.
The additional lane on the northbound I-405 is open from the I-10 connectors to just north of Wilshire Bl.
The new northbound off-ramp to eastbound Wilshire Bl opened last week.
The old northbound off-ramp to eastbound Wilshire Bl will be demolished.
There are no other extended closures scheduled for the next three months. Please
# 4 .  HWPOA COMMUNICIATION AND AD POLICY.
Please direct all comments, questions or issues  regarding the HOLMBY NEWS tohwpoa@aol.com<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/holmbywestwood/post?postID=UHQgXpdyeg_mkwHWgP2Tow4n1JvB41B46_PwPaMueoMJOC4o--cReyDYPuEgHySkVKQwz19B> and not to the holmbywestwood's Yahoo address.
Residents have complained about too many HWPOA emails during the week so I  as Moderator, try to limit HWPOA messages during the week, ads in particular,  to posting in the weekly NEWS.  Emergency type situations such as coyote sightings, lost and found pets, traffic alerts and similar emergency type situations will continue to be published during the week as received.

This policy will be published each week preceding the Resident Ads section of the HOLMBY NEWS as a reminder of the policy, how to place the ads. and why the policy was established. There is always  an exception considered  if needed for an emergency type ad situation.

When placing an ad  please send tohwpoa@aol.com<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/holmbywestwood/post?postID=nJq0i47JNLDffTtNq8cpNiILK2pScnt8nFs8sJvZ3YE7NgaWl2Fk5iFsGipZHksmoeWn> for the HOLMBY NEWS Moderator to review.  The receipt of the ad will be confirmed. Responses to ads should be directed to the ad placer, not to HWPOA.  Do not respond to the holmbywestwood Yahoo email address.   Ads will be run in the following weekend NEWS of the week the ad is received if the ad is received after release of the NEWS via our Yahoo group.

Thank you.
Tom the NEWS moderator/editor
